Mystic Iran, The Unseen World
World Premiere—2002, video, 52 minutes, written by Aryana Farshad
and Janelle Balnicke, and directed and produced by Aryana Farshad.
Shot entirely on location, this film explores a modern woman’s
mystical journey deep into the heart of her native Iran, in search
of spiritual rites and rituals hidden for centuries. Despite the
risk of confiscation of film equipment, and the threat of drug
traffickers and even land mines, Ms. Farshad embarked on a courageous
nine-month journey into the heart of Iran, gaining access to religious
ceremonies and locations never before recorded. Aryana Farshad
will introduce the film and participate in a question-and-answer
session following the film.

April 26 and May 10—Part 3 Tartar Crusaders
and Part 4 The Last Khan of Khans
This four-part series covers the life and accomplishments of
Genghis Khan and examines the art, culture, science, and technology
of Mongol civilization. Khan left not only a highly trained army,
but also the beginning of an imperial administrative framework,
a system of taxation, and a communications network—all of which
were built upon and expanded by his successors. The series was
filmed on location in Mongolia and also features battle re-enactments
shot at historical locations throughout Europe and Asia.
